Biography
Ben Nye was an American makeup artist who worked in the Hollywood film industry for over four decades. Born on January 12, 1907, in Fremont, Nebraska, Nye began their career during the 1930s and continued until the early 1980s. They contributed to more than five hundred films produced by 20th Century Fox, both within and outside the Hollywood studio system.
Nye’s filmography includes notable makeup contributions to several productions. In 1943, they worked on Five Graves to Cairo. Their work on Journey to the Center of the Earth followed in 1959. Other credits include The Sound of Music (1965), Valley of the Dolls (1967), Cheaper by the Dozen (1950), Three Came Home (1950), and Stars and Stripes Forever (1952).
