Chōko Iida was a Japanese film actress born on April 15, 1897, in Asakusa, Taito, Tokyo. Known for portraying working-class women and grandmothers, Iida appeared in over 300 films throughout her career. Her real name was Shigehara Tefu, and she was married to cameraman Shigehara Hideo. Iida’s screen presence often brought depth to maternal and supporting roles, reflecting the social realities of her time.
In her filmography, Iida is credited in The Loyal 47 Ronin (1932) as Nui, the wife of Fuwa. She also appeared in Our Neighbor, Miss Yae (1934) as Hamako, a character likely representing everyday life in urban Japan.
