Milsome's first notable credit was Stanley Kubrick's psychological horror, "The Shining" (1980).
Milsome's career took a significant turn when he stepped into the role of Director of Photography. He lensed Stanley Kubrick's Vietnam War drama, "Full Metal Jacket" (1987), capturing the grit and realism of the conflict. He continued in this role for Jonathan Mostow's action-thriller, "Breakdown" (1997), and the television movie, "Deadly Lessons" (2006).
