Biography
Erich Kästner was a German writer whose works became the basis for multiple films. Born on February 23, 1899, in Dresden, Germany, Kästner’s literary contributions extended into cinema, where his stories were adapted for screen. Among these, The Parent Trap (1998) drew from Kästner’s novel, as did Annaluise & Anton (1999) and its earlier adaptation Annaluise & Anton (1953). Another of Kästner’s novels, Emil und die Detektive, was slated for a 2026 film adaptation.
