Biography
Howard E. Smith is an editor known for working on major studio films in the late 1990s through the 2010s. Born on December 5, 1945 in Clearfield, Utah, Smith has been credited with editing several action and thriller titles during his career. Among his edited works is the 1997 disaster film Dante's Peak, where Smith shaped the pacing and structure of the volcanic eruption sequence. He later edited the 2006 action film Snakes on a Plane, contributing to the film’s tense set pieces and rapid cuts.
Smith also has a credit on the 2011 political thriller The Candidate, where his editorial choices would have guided the narrative flow of campaign strategy and confrontation scenes.
