One of his earliest significant works was in the 1986 action drama "Top Gun," where he brought his unique visual style to the film's aerial sequences. He continued to showcase his versatility in the 1987 comedy "Beverly Hills Cop II," capturing the vibrant atmosphere of the titular city. Kimball's collaboration with director Tony Scott led to another iconic film, the 1993 crime romance "True Romance," where he effectively conveyed the film's intense and emotional narrative through his cinematography.
