Biography
John Box was born on January 27, 1920 in Hampstead, London, England, UK. Working in the film industry, Box contributed to the visual design of notable productions during the 1950s and 1960s. Among these was The Million Pound Note from 1954, where Box handled art direction, shaping the film’s environments to support its narrative.
Box later served as production designer on A Man for All Seasons in 1966, crafting sets that reflected the historical setting of the story. This was followed by Oliver! in 1968, where Box again worked in production design, creating the visual framework for the film’s adaptation of the classic tale. Through these credits, Box established a presence in the art and design departments of mid-century cinema.
