Biography
Mario Bava was born on July 31, 1914 in Sanremo, Liguria, Italy. Bava worked in multiple roles across Italian cinema, establishing a reputation in technical departments before taking on directorial duties. As a Director of Photography, Bava contributed to Blood and Black Lace in 1964, shaping the film’s visual style within the horror genre. Bava also served as Second Unit Director of Photography on The Wonders of Aladdin in 1961, assisting in capturing additional footage for the production.
In 1966, Bava directed Dr. Goldfoot and the Girl Bombs, demonstrating command over comedic and stylistic elements in a genre film.
