Biography
Martin Schäfer was born on July 6, 1943 in Munich, Germany. Active in the film industry, Schäfer worked as a camera operator on Wim Wenders’ Paris, Texas in 1984, contributing to the film’s visual composition. Earlier, Schäfer served as assistant camera on Wim Wenders’ The American Friend in 1977, assisting in the technical execution of the cinematography.
Schäfer also worked as a director of photography on Rainer Werner Fassbinder’s Seven Women, Seven Sins in 1986, overseeing the film’s lighting and camera work. Additionally, Schäfer held the same role on Hans-Christoph Blumenberg’s Tausend Augen in 1984, handling the visual aspects of the production. These credits reflect Schäfer’s involvement in German and international cinema during the 1970s and 1980s.
