Masayuki Kato was born on January 29, 1932 in Kitakyushu, Fukuoka, Japan. Kato worked primarily as an actor, with a focus on voice acting. In 1988, Kato appeared in the film Akira, voicing the role of Engineer Sakiyama and Committe D. The film, an animated cyberpunk science fiction work, remains one of the most influential Japanese animated features.
Kato’s involvement in Akira marked a notable contribution to the film’s vocal ensemble, lending distinct characterizations to the roles assigned. His work in the film is documented under the name 加藤 正之, with credits also listed as Masayuki Kato and Masayuki Katô. Kato died on March 18, 1993.
