Biography
Oona Menges is credited as a clapper loader for the 1996 film Beautiful Thing. In this role, Menges assisted the camera department by preparing and managing the clapperboard, ensuring synchronization between sound and picture during production. The position is an entry-level but essential technical role in filmmaking, often serving as a first step for individuals pursuing careers in cinematography or camera operation.
Later, Menges worked as the director of photography for the 2015 film Social Suicide. In this capacity, Menges was responsible for overseeing the visual aspects of the production, including lighting, camera movement, and shot composition. The role of director of photography involves close collaboration with the director to achieve the intended visual style of a film.
