Sean Astin is an American actor known for his work in film. Born on February 25, 1971, in Santa Monica, California, Astin has appeared in a variety of roles throughout his career. One of his earliest notable performances was as Mikey in The Goonies, released in 1985. This was followed by roles in The War of the Roses, where Astin played Josh at 17, and Memphis Belle, in which he portrayed Richard "Rascal" Moore.
Astin's most notable and enduring role to date is that of Sam in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, specifically in The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, both released in 2001 and 2003 respectively.
