Shigeyasu Yamauchi

Shigeyasu Yamauchi is a Japanese anime director born on April 10, 1953, in Hakodate, Hokkaido. Yamauchi directed three films in the Dragon Ball franchise: Dragon Ball Z: Broly - Second Coming (1994), Dragon Ball: The Path to Power (1996), and Dragon Ball Z (1989). These works contributed to the franchise’s global recognition during the 1990s.

Yamauchi also directed Digimon: The Movie (2000), further establishing a presence in the anime film industry. The director’s work has been associated with major animation studios, including Ashi Productions (now Production Reed) and Toei Animation, before transitioning to freelance work. Yamauchi’s filmography reflects a focus on animated feature films, particularly within popular genre franchises.
