This collaboration marked the beginning of a long association with major productions in the industry.

Saitō later took on the role of Director of Photography for High and Low in 1963, Kagemusha in 1980, and Dodes'ka-den in 1970. These films showcase Saitō’s work in visual storytelling through camera and lighting techniques. Their expertise in cinematography became a defining aspect of their career, contributing to the visual language of the films they worked on.
