Taketoshi Watari is a Japanese writer associated with experimental and cult cinema. Born on February 5, 1961 in Oki, Shimane, Japan, Watari entered the film industry during the late 1980s. Their early work included the 1985 project Distorted Sense of Touch, credited under the name Masao, which marked their first documented involvement in a film production.
In 1989, Watari contributed to Shimai renzoku reipu: Eguru!, a film that further established their presence in niche film circles. Their most notable credit is as the writer for Splatter: Naked Blood in 1996, a title that gained attention for its visceral and unconventional approach to horror. Watari’s contributions reflect a focus on provocative and boundary-pushing narratives within the Japanese film scene.
