Wu Cheng'en was born on December 30, 1505 in Huai'an, during the Ming Dynasty. While primarily recognized as a novelist and poet, their literary works have been adapted into films, linking them to the cinema industry. Their involvement in film is noted through credited adaptations, where their original writings served as source material for cinematic productions.
Wu Cheng'en is credited with the novelization of A Chinese Odyssey Part Two: Cinderella, released in 1995. Their work also provided the basis for The Monkey King 3, released in 2018. Additionally, characters created by Wu Cheng'en appeared in the 2022 film Pigsy. These adaptations reflect the enduring influence of their storytelling across centuries.
