In Tamil cinema, Ilayathalapathy Vijay is one of the biggest stars currently. He has been working in Kollywood since he was a kid, and has managed to amass a good following for himself in the state.
He came up with Varisu, directed by Vamshi Paidipally for this Sankranthi. The film was released on January 11th and went on to become a good hit in Tamil Nadu. The Telugu version of the film was released on January 14th, with Vaarasudu as the title, to accommodate other Telugu releases.
The Telugu version of the film turned out to be a flop, but the Tamil version is still going strong.
With this film, director Vamshi Paidipally made his debut in Kollywood. The film is produced by Dil Raju, who also made his Tamil debut with the film. With Varisu collecting over 100 Crores worldwide, it is to be said that the film has been a successful venture for Dil Raju.
Rashmika Mandanna is the leading lady of the film, while SS Thaman is the music director. His songs and background score turned out to be huge assets for the film.
The film also features an ensemble cast that consists of Jayasudha, Sarath Kumar, Srikanth, Shaam, and Prakash Raj. While Varisu managed to impress the Tamil audience, it turned out to be a failure in the Telugu states, despite Dil Raju’s many attempts.
