In 1999, Hariharan provided playback singing for the Hindi film Hum Saath Saath Hain.
Beyond film work, Hariharan is recognized as a pioneer of Indian fusion music. Collaborating with Lesle Lewis, the duo Colonial Cousins released several private albums and composed music for feature films in Tamil and Bollywood cinema. Hariharan’s work spans ghazals and other vocal styles, reflecting a presence across commercial and experimental music formats in Indian cinema.
