He is recognized for his roles in several prominent South Korean films. Deok-jae's first significant role was in the 2003 thriller "Memories of Murder," where he played the part of an Investigator at So-hyun's Crime Scene. He then appeared in the 2008 action-comedy "The Good, the Bad, the Weird," portraying Chang-yi's Gang. Deok-jae's most acclaimed role to date is in the 2010 psychological thriller "I Saw the Devil," where he took on the role of Detective Kang.
