One of his earliest known roles was in "Edo kaizoku-den: Kagebôshi" (1925), where he played the character Jûta Nagareboshi. He continued to make significant contributions to Japanese cinema, including a memorable performance as Bandit Chieftain in Akira Kurosawa's classic film "Seven Samurai" (1954).
